To be not to be
My research starts with my inspiration about misfits. Something that is broken, used or deformed is maybe way more interesting than the “beautiful” according the standards of the society. So I research the imperfection. So I decide to find ways in the proces to get different outcomes, to create variables. So the first serie is made by pressing clay in a mold. What you see is that all of overflowing material gets it’s own shape. I glazed the usual form of the plait, to emphasize the shape. In the other proces I used the shape that appeared when you throw the clay out of the mold. So that is how you get this edge. I made a tablecloth. By presenting it in this way, I bring the tableware back in context. To let people see that this can be used. And let people embrace the fact that every piece is different. This set is made from porcelain. I used the characteristics of the porcelain, because the material will be deforming when you fire it high without support. Packaging In the packaging that I made, I wanted to emphasize the concept. It will be a surprise what you get. You have to shove the wrapper of to see your product. In the meantime you see the shape changing, trough an small analog animation. To referring uniqueness of the objects, every piece get its own number. |
